Going Home

I had the opportunity to speak for a few minutes in each of the morning services at Northwoods United Methodist Church this past Sunday.  Thanks to their pastor, Rick Moser.  He was very hospitable and gracious in allowing us time in the morning services.

I owe a lot of what and who I am to the start that I recieved at Northwoods.  It was great to catch up with old friends and share about the new things that God is doing in our lives.  We were well received and I can't wait to see how God works through our obedience.

Christmas

Our family had a wonderful Christmas.  We had Granny and Papa and Grandma here for Christmas day and it was neat to see the whole family together.  My wonderful wife surprised me with a gym membership (is she telling me I need it?) and Castillian Spanish Rosetta Stone for the whole family.  El gato es blanco.  I just got back from taking my Mom home to Jacksonville.  I'm thankful that the drive went quickly and smoothly.

I had the opportunity to record a conversation about family Christmas traditions and about what we might find in Spain for Christmas.  It was broadcast on the radio as part of the show "A Place Missionaries Call Home."  You can find it at the Siloam Homes web site.

Enough of this. I'm avoiding working on my Doctrinal Statement for SEND.  It has to be sent in by January 4.

I am amazed!

I am always amazed that God choses to work through broken vessels.  I am only a sinner, called by God's grace to himself.  2Co 4:7 Our bodies are made of clay, yet we have the treasure of the Good News in them. This shows that the superior power of this treasure belongs to God and doesn't come from us. We are vessels of clay, made by perfect hands, yet imperfect in ourselves.  We can never become perfect yet we can carry around inside of us the treasure and perfection of the Truth!

Our family has been approved as candidates by Send International.  This is a big step for us and we are very excited by the news!  Sometimes I am amazed that they haven't found some reason to tell us to go away.

This means that we will continue to fill out more forms!  More importantly, it means that we will be attending Candidate Orientation at Send Headquarters in Farmington, MI for two weeks in January.  It will be two weeks of classes and tests and interviews...and hopefully of being finally approved and called as missionaries to Spain.

Please pray for us as we prepare for this time.  Pray that all the work stuff goes smoothly, that we persevere in the paperwork that still needs to be done, for the sale of our house.  Most of all pray for the lost in Spain.  There are men and women who are lost in their sin and need a saving relationship with Jesus.

God Bless you!

Cartwheels and Flips...

I'm so happy!  I have turned in my term paper and taken my final and the semester ends at 11:59 pm tonight!  I really learned a lot from my Church History class but it has been the hardest one so far.  I'm glad it's behind me.

There is so much to share about our journey.  I'll start tomorrow....LOL.

Budding Radio Stars!

My wife and daughter (Cindy and Hannah) were guests on a radio show entitled "A Place Missionaries Call Home."  This show is produced by Siloam Missionary Homes and is syndicated nationally.  You can hear the show locally on WTRU 830 AM, Saturdays at 3:30pm.  You can listen to it online as well.

Cindy and Hannah were on the show to talk about our families journey to the mission field.  They were great on the show.  I had to work :(

First Post

I'm excited to begin the process of sharing with you.  Our family is submitting all of our application documents today in order to be considered for service on the mission field with Send International.  Thanks for tuning in!
